Captain Heidy
Growing up in the Florida Keys gave me an appreciation for the outdoors and a deep love for the ocean. As much as I tried to fight it, I eventually became a version of my parents. They ran a sail and snorkel charter business and claim I was conceived onboard our custom-built trimaran. At 10 days old and 3 miles offshore they stuck me in the ocean for the first time. I’d like to think that’s when I became a sailor. By the age of 10 I was sailing our Hobie cat in 20 knots of wind. On my 12th birthday I got my scuba certification before I was tall enough to lift the tank. Needless to say, I have salt in my blood.
Thirteen years ago I made the best decision of my life. I bought my first sailboat. Having lived aboard and owned 10 boats, I do all of my own maintenance and upgrades. I’ve grown into and out of each one, each teaching me many valuable lessons along the way. In 2015 I sailed Que Sera, my bluewater cruiser, a Horizon Nemo 39’ to Mexico on the Baja Ha-Ha rally as the youngest female Captain in the fleet. I have chartered boats globally and have hosted numerous "learn to sail" adventures in locations including Croatia, Greece, BVI, Tahiti, Mexico, and Sicily. Sailing is my passion and I love sharing the experience with others.
